The variability of AP Aurigae was discovered in 1921 by A. Stanley Williams when examining previously taken plates. At the Abastumani Observatory observations of AP Aurigae were conducted from November 3, 1934 to January 12, 1935. In all 117 images (24 plates) suitable for measurements were secured. Exposures of 15 and 20 minutes were made. Such long exposures were necessary owing to the orthochromatic effect of the Ilford Monarch plates employed (1934 series, emulsion 6428 A). To eliminate this effect a special filter supplied by the State Optical Institute, Leningrad, was used. The characteristic curve was drawn for each plate, from which the photographic brightness values of the comparison stars were determined. The mean of these curves was adopted as the final value. Examination of the curve obtained shows that the minima of brightness are disposed quite symmetrically. The maxima are equal amounting to 10.91 while the minima greatly differ. This seems to indicate that the star is of the β Lyrae type. The autors are indebted to V.V. Vikhrov and E.D. Mgaloblishvili for their assistance in securing the photographic material and taking part in the microphotometric measurements. August, 1935
