his dataset is associated with a qualitative study examining how frontline social workers in Georgia perceive the ethical integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into social work practice. The data were generated through two online focus groups conducted with practitioners working in child protection/school social work and elder care (n = 14). The focus groups explored participants’ perceptions of potential opportunities, risks, and safeguards related to the use of AI in professional practice. The discussions highlight perceived benefits of AI, including the reduction of administrative workload and support for information management, alongside significant ethical concerns related to confidentiality, data protection, digital inequality, and the potential erosion of relational practice. Ethical considerations varied by practice field: child protection practitioners emphasized the sensitivity of children’s data and the complexity of risk assessment, while elder-care practitioners highlighted issues of digital exclusion, cognitive vulnerability, and the importance of human presence in service provision. The dataset provides empirical insight into practitioner perspectives on AI in social work within a post-Soviet context and is intended to support further research, policy development, and educational initiatives focused on ethical and human-centered approaches to digital innovation in social services.
