Abstract
The study of the z-coordinate of Cepheids lends us to the determination of the dependence M=(am). I The values M = —0.5 do not change within the errors the distance of the Sun to the galactic plane which is the fundamental constant of stellar astronomy. We have got its value in parsecs Z=31 ± 4. In agreement with the investigations based on other objects and methods the absorption in the direction to the galactic centre is greater than to the anticentre. The absorption north of the galactic plane 'is greater than south of it, in both directions. This paper deals only with the mean absorption coefficient apq of tin group of 153 Cepheids. This absorbing coefficient may be of no value for any other group of stars situated differently. The values of photographic absorption and M received in this work explains the difference of absorption received by Joy according to galactic rotation and z-coordinate. The absorption deduced from Cepheids may by somewhat less than that from other objects. The Cepheids are generally discovered in the brighter areas of the galactic belt. But this effect is small.
