RW Canis Majoris

The Cephei type variable RW Canis Major is was studied on the basis of 177 photographic observations (Table II) made with 13-inch reflector. The photographic light-curve (Fig. 1) and the following elements were obtained: Max=2428201.83+5.d72941.E Comparing the light-curve derived with the visual one given by Florja the color indices were determined: C. I.max=+0m.76; C. I.min= +1m.05, which correspond to the change of spectrum in the interval G2—G3. Comparing the observed values with the absolute ones (derived from the relation "period — luminosity") we find the value of colorexcess: C. E.= +0m.22 Accepting with Trumpler the photographic absorption coefficient to be Kph =0m.67 we find that the distance to RW Canis Majoris is equal to 3100 parsccs and the coefficient of selective absorption is +0m.07. If we take into account that Becker obtained for regions distant by 5° from RW Canis Majoris the value of the coefficient of selective absorption equal (according to his system of color indices) to +0m.35 - +0m.50 from one side and the value less than zero-front the other side, the value we obtained (in Becker's system it equals +0m.03) confirms ones more the non-uniform character of selective absorption.
