Abstract
The question about the laws of the absorbing matter density distribution perpendicularly to the galactic plane is discussed. For the solultion of the problem the equation by Smolukhovsky with some simplification is used. It is stated that the interstellar absorption observations are well represented by the formula (19). A rather good agreement with the empirical curve of the absorption value dependence on [2] is obtained at the following value of parameters: h=5, g=0.3, M=10, a=3.0 (when the distances are expressed in kps, and absorption in star magnitudes).
