Abstract

The note contains the results of investigation of chromatic aberration of 8-inch object-glass of the two cameras attached to the 16-inch refractor of Abastumani Observatory. The chromatic curves were determined by Hartmann's method using two Schott filters -BG3 and GG11. The positions of the focus for intermediate points of the spectrum were derived by means of Cauchy's interpolation formula. Table Y gives for light of different wave-lengths the deviation of the focus (ΔF) from the mean position expressed in parts of the focal length of the object-glass (the deviation in millimeters will be equal to F. ΔF: F-1000 mm). Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 represents the chromatic curves of the object-glasses no.1 and no.2 respectively. Moreover, the dependence of the magnitude of the faintest stars on the exposure time has been examined. July, 1938
