Abstract
With the aim of star spectrophotometry, the spectral transparency of the atmosphere on Mt. Kanobili has been determined in l956. The obtained material helps to involve some preliminary conclusions concerning the law of the extinction variation with the wave length, and the composition and properties of the air particles and transparency seasonal variations on Mt. Kanobili, as well. Observations were made using 20 cm. camera with 15°.5 objective prism. The spectral region under investigation is λλ 4600—37°0 A. 8 observational series for the stars β Ari. γ Gem. δ Cyg. α Peg and α Oph are worked out. Transparency coefficients are determined by Βouger method. Using them, corresponding optical thicknesses of the atmosphere for II wavelength values are calculated (table I, fig. 1). The examination of the fig. 1 shows a break in the monotonous path: transparency minima varying in magnitude with time ire observed. From the available formulae and with meteorological data obtained at the Observatory, the atmosphere optical thickness components (table II). Conclusions are made on the base of Table II data on the dependence of Mt. Kanobili observational conditions upon the season and dimensions and composition of the aerosols. Oktobcr, 1956.
