Abstract

The present investigation is based 011 Wallenquist catalogue [1] containing photographic magnitudes, spectra and coordinates of about 6100 stars. The coordinates of the centre of the region arc α= 17h32m, δ=—25°, area 200 square degrees. Photovisual magnitudes of 1685 stars (table III) have been determined on the base of tho photographic material obtained with 20 cm camera of 40 cm refractor. Characteristic curves (fig. 1, 2, 3) are drawn by standards (table II) whose photovisual magnitudes are determined by the North polar sequence stars. From the photovisual magnitudes secured and reduced graphically to the international system (fig. 4) and the Wallenquist photographic magnitudes, star colour indices have been deduced. They are used to study the light absorption in the mentioned direction. Colour excess—distance curves for six separate regions (fig. 6 - 10) have been constructed. The total area is divided into six regions nearly uniform in star distribution density (fig. 5). The mean quadratic error of Catalogue value is equal tο ±0μ.06. January. 1954
