Abstract
At night on the 14-th of December, 1942 the author photographed the sky in Cancer with 8" cameras (1 :5) of the 16" refractor of the Abastumani Observatory. On the Golden Iso-Zenith plates (HαD 1400), taken with the exposure time of 2 hours and 30 minutes there was discovered an object of the 9-th magnitude suspected to be a comet. The repeated observation and the examination of sources, being at our disposal made us recognize the object as a new comet. Information was sent to a number of astronomical institutions of the Soviet Union and abroad. Later on the information about the discovery of the new comet was published in the ^Astronomical Circulars No. 11 (February, 1943), published by the Bureau of Astronomical Information of the Academy of Sciences of USSR, where it was designated as Comet 1942 Tevsadse 2.
