Abstract
The spherical aberration and astigmatism of the object glasses of two parallel cameras attached to the new 16-inch refractor of Abastumani Observatory have been examined. The diameter of the object glasses is equal to 8 inches, thc focal length- - 1 m. The complex object glasses, made by Zeiss, are composed of four lenses each. The size of plates is 18X24, the field is 10°.5X14°.0. The examination was carried out according to Hartmann's method. The obtained curves of spherical aberration for both object glasses arc h presented on Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. The values of technical constant for the two object glasses equals 1.03 and 0.31, respectively. According to Hartmann's classification the object glass No. 1 belongs to the class designated as «good» (“gute”), the No. 2-to that characterized as «excellent» (“hervorragend gute”). The value of the astigmatism (a) is small for both object glasses (Table IX and Table X). January, 1938
