Abstract
The break-up of the Soviet Union led to a complete collapse of the established economic system. The cumulative output decline in Georgia in 1994 (base 1989) amounted to 75% – the worst figure among all post-communist countries. Later on, Georgia launched successful reforms that were recognized by many international organizations and it became the top reformer in the CIS region.
