Abstract
As there is a growing interest in idiom research, my paper focuses on psycholinguistic peculiarities of idioms in cross-linguistic and cross-cultural research. This paper is the first attempt of Georgian linguistics to implement a comparative analysis of Greek, Russian and Georgian idioms concerning the semantics of money. Looking at constructions of phraseological units, I have tried to study idiomatic expressions by taking into account that their meaning as a whole is not equal to the sum of their components. The ideas of idiomatic expressions were presented in the form of equations and schemes and the following lexical levels were distinguished: a) lexical level, b) semi-lexical level and c) post-lexical level.
