Abstract
Prefix ze- in Georgian is becoming more productive. It is used as superlative morpheme, although this prefix may have the spatial vector as well. The prefix ze- appears with nouns, adjectives, participles, infinitives and very rarely, with finite verbs. The detailed morpho-semantic analysis of the prefix ze- is displayed in the paper. The forms of adjectives and participles with this prefix could be considered as prefixed opposition forms for the degrees of adjectives with wider usage. The presented paper illustrates the process of grammaticalization of the prefix ze- along with the theoretical typologycal explanations for this process, exposing the additional examples form Georgian Sign Language.
