Abstract

Modern Problems of Native Language Teaching at Georgian School Georgian traditional methodology has devoted much attention to the problem of teaching Georgian language as a mother tongue. This term “Mother tongue”, “Dedaena”, “Muttersprache” is used only in Georgian, English and German. Other languages use the terms “Basic Language”, “First Language”, “Native Language”...If a man speaks only his native language, his concepts are directly associated with the expression of the concepts in this tongue. Preceding from psychological peculiarities of native language assimilation, and taking into account the basic process of thought, we may come to the conclusion, that in order to master a foreign language, children must have a lot practice in their native language. The pupils mother tongue often interferes with the target language; the formation of new habits is hindered by habits already acquired. Modern psychology helps methods to determine the role of mother tongue in different stages of teaching. We try to analyze some progressive pedagogical experience concerning teaching Georgian and foreign languages. The article analyzes various forms of teaching languages and compares teaching systems of Georgian and other countries among the pupils of different ages. 4
