Abstract

The talk about three waves of democratization (S. Huntington) has been in vogue since the last two decades. But if we look at the experience of transformation of a small country of Georgia in the Caucasus, the concept of modernization and its three waves seems at first glance to offer more promising approach for understanding the dynamics of political, social and economic change.
